View all treatmentsGetting a coil fitted on the NHS can mean a wait of weeks or months, a practice that does not offer it, or being sent to a clinic on the other side of Fife on a day that does not suit.
We fit coils privately at our Dunfermline clinic. Dr Emily Arthurs — our female GP and a member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare — fits, checks, replaces and removes hormonal and copper coils. No referral needed, and appointments usually available within the week.
Here — at The Canmore Clinic, 30 Canmore Street, Dunfermline. We are a short walk from the town centre, easy to reach from across Fife, and around 30 minutes from Edinburgh. A number of our patients travel in rather than wait for a local appointment.

We offer flexible booking options to fit around your schedule. You can:
We believe in transparent pricing with no hidden costs. You can view our consultation fees on our Pricing page, or contact us directly for more information.

Yes. It is often slightly easier, as the cervix is a little more open. It is not required though — we can fit at other points in your cycle, and we will check you are not pregnant first.
Irregular spotting for the first few weeks is normal, and periods can be heavier or longer for the first three to six months with a copper coil. With a hormonal coil, periods usually become lighter over time and may stop altogether.
It depends on the device — generally five to ten years. We will tell you exactly when yours is due.
