Professional Mole Checks for Peace of Mind

If you’ve noticed a new mole or changes to an existing one, it’s important to get it checked. At The Canmore Clinic in Dunfermline, we offer private mole reviews with experienced GP Dr Matt Bulkeley, providing reassurance and rapid access to further care if needed.

Our mole check service is designed to assess skin lesions, moles, and other pigmented areas to determine whether they are harmless or require further investigation.

Why Get a Mole Checked?

Most moles are completely harmless. However, some changes can indicate something more serious, such as skin cancer. It’s important to have moles reviewed if they:

  • Change in size, shape, or colour
  • Become itchy, painful, or start to bleed
  • Appear suddenly or grow rapidly
  • Look different from other moles (‘the ugly duckling’)

Early detection of suspicious moles can be life-saving. A professional mole review offers clarity and next steps — quickly and discreetly.

What Happens During a Mole Review?

Your appointment will include:

  • A consultation with Dr Matt Bulkeley to discuss your concerns
  • Examination of one or more moles using visual inspection and, where appropriate, dermatoscopy (magnified skin examination)
  • Advice on whether the mole is benign or requires further assessment or removal

Please note: We do not offer in-house dermatology services. If needed, a high-quality clinical photo of the mole can be taken and securely sent to a consultant dermatologist for review. This remote dermatology review is available for £120.

We also offer non-surgical lesion removal at the clinic, which is charged at the same rate as a standard mole review.

How Much Does a Mole Check Cost?

The cost of a standard mole review consultation is £150. Additional services, such as photo referral to dermatology (£120) or lesion removal, will be discussed and agreed upon during your appointment.
