View all treatmentsAt The Canmore Clinic in Dunfermline, we offer steroid injections as an effective, minimally invasive treatment to reduce inflammation and relieve pain in joints and soft tissues. Administered by our experienced GP Dr Matt Bulkeley, these injections provide targeted relief and can help you return to normal movement and daily activities with greater ease.
Steroid (corticosteroid) injections are used to treat localised inflammation and pain. They are commonly used for joint issues, tendon inflammation, and soft tissue injuries where oral medications may not provide enough relief.
Steroid injections can be effective for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
We also offer Ostenil Plus knee injections for those who may benefit from hyaluronic acid therapy.
Steroid injections deliver powerful anti-inflammatory medication directly to the affected area. This reduces swelling, improves mobility, and relieves pain — often within just a few days of treatment. In some cases, local anaesthetic is included for immediate relief.
Relief from pain and inflammation can last for several weeks to months, depending on the condition and severity. Some patients require a one-off injection, while others may benefit from repeated treatment as part of a longer-term management plan.
Steroid injection therapy starts from £150, which includes consultation, assessment, and treatment. For full details, visit our Pricing page.

You’ll find The Canmore Clinic at 30 Canmore Street, Dunfermline, Fife KY12 7NT — easily accessible from surrounding areas including Rosyth, Inverkeithing, and the wider Fife region.
Most patients tolerate the injection well. You may feel brief discomfort during the injection, but this usually settles quickly. Local anaesthetic is often included to minimise pain.
Pain relief can begin within 24–48 hours, though it may take up to a week for full effect. Some people experience immediate benefit if local anaesthetic is used.
You’ll be advised to rest the treated area for 24–48 hours. After that, you can gradually return to your normal activities, depending on how you feel and your individual treatment plan.
