At The Canmore Clinic in Dunfermline, we provide HGV medical examinations for new and renewing drivers. If you’re applying for or renewing your Group 2 licence (HGV, LGV or PCV), our experienced GP, Dr Matt Bulkeley, will complete your D4 medical assessment quickly, efficiently, and in line with DVLA requirements.
All Group 2 drivers are legally required to undergo a medical assessment to confirm they are fit to drive safely. This includes lorry drivers, bus drivers, and anyone holding a commercial driving licence.
The medical involves completing the DVLA’s D4 medical form, which includes a physical examination and a review of your medical history.
Our aim is to make the process as straightforward and stress-free as possible, ensuring you meet the necessary criteria to keep driving professionally.
The cost of an HGV medical at The Canmore Clinic is £120. This includes the full assessment and completion of the D4 form.

Most HGV medical appointments take around 30–40 minutes, including physical examination.
Yes, provided there are no complications, Dr Bulkeley will complete and sign your D4 form during your appointment, so you can submit it to the DVLA promptly.
